
St Mura’s Recipe Book on Sale Now!
The Parent / Teacher Association of St Mura’s N.S, Buncrana are pleased to announce that the school’s very own recipe book is now on sale. It is a collection of some of the favourite recipes of our pupils past and present, parents, teachers, staff and friends of the school.

Congratulations to St Mura’s Green Team
Congratulations to the Green Team and our Green Schools co-coordinator, Mrs Gallagher. We received a letter from An Taisce (The Nation Trust for Ireland) on Friday last informing us that our Green Flag application had been successful.

Recycling Into Art
St Mura’s junior class enjoying some real Eco innovation by turning their recyclable garbage into art. In doing so, it adds an aspect of Eco-social responsibility to their art.

Dates For Your Diary
Our Annual Flower Arranging display will take place on Thursday 12th December at 8pm in the Lake Of Shadows. Flower arranging by Josie Coll. We hope you are getting on well with selling your tickets. More tickets are available from the school office if you require them.

St Mura’s own Marathon Queen
On behalf of the school we would like to give Sarah Webster a huge round of applause for finishing the Dublin Marathon and in doing so raising over 1000 euros for the school! We would also like to thank each and every one who donated to Sarah’s cause; it was a magnificently kind contribution reflecting a magnificent feat of Sarah’s.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal
Dear Parents – Many thanks to all who participated in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal once more this year. These boxes mean so much to many children who would not otherwise receive any gifts this Christmas. We received 30+ boxes this year!

Autumn School News
Firstly, a big welcome to the new Junior Infants – Eva and Caroline. We wish them a happy and successful 8 years at St Mura’s. A big welcome also to Kayla, a new Senior Infant pupil and to Chloe and Daena, new pupils in 5th class.

St Mura’s visit Ulster American Folk Park
St Mura’s day trip to The Ulster American Folk Park in Castletown, Omagh, County Tyrone. The students were able to follow the emigrant trail as they journeyed from the thatched cottages of Ulster, on board a full scale emigrant sailing ship leading to the log cabins of the American Frontier.

The Border Life Stories Project
The Border Life Stories Project provided opportunities for older persons and younger people on a cross border and cross community capacity to share stories of growing up in the shadow of the border using the medium of digital storytelling.

Support Sarah – Marathon Fundraiser
Sarah Webster, a member of the board of management and parents’ committee, will be participating in the Dublin City Marathon on Monday, October 28th. Sarah is doing this to raise much needed funds for the school.

Opening and closing times
We would remind everyone of school opening and closing times:-
School starts at 9.10 a.m.
School finishes at 1.50 p.m. for infants and 2.50 p.m. for first to sixth classes.

Educational Welfare Board – Absent Days
All schools are required to comply with the National Education Welfare Board. This body is responsible for monitoring school attendance in both primary and secondary schools throughout Ireland.

Holiday Bible Club
Amazing Treasures – Holiday Bible Club is on from Monday 1st to Friday 5th July.
Come and have fun with other children learning stories from the Bible.

St Muras – Winners of Battle of the Books 2013 & 2014
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive programme for students aged 8 – 12; the aim is to encourage students to read good books and have fun whilst competing with peers.
